The MS325-6.3 is a manual motor protector (MMP) with an adjustable full-load ampere range of 4 to 6.3 A, covering fractional-horsepower three-phase motors up to about 3 HP at 460 V. The 6.3 A top end is the setting you dial in for a motor nameplate FLA of 6.3 A or less — the overload element is matched to the motor's thermal damage curve. Trip Class 10 means the device opens within 10 seconds at 600% of the set current. Rated 600 VAC, so it works on 480 V and 600 V industrial systems without voltage derating. The 3-phase construction means it monitors all three legs — a phase loss on any one will trip the protector, preventing single-phasing damage.
UL508 listing and panel coordination
UL508 listed as a manual motor controller with integral overload and short-circuit protection. In a North American panel, this means the MS325-6.3 can serve as both the branch-circuit overcurrent device and the motor overload relay in one package — no separate fuse or circuit breaker needed upstream for the motor branch, provided the available fault current is within the device's SCCR rating. Phase failure detection is built in — the protector senses when one phase drops out and trips all three poles, preventing the motor from running on two phases and overheating.
