What it is and what it does
The PXF5ABS2-JVGA1 is a self-tuning 1/8 DIN (48 x 96mm) compact temperature and process controller with a 50ms sampling speed. That sampling rate means it catches fast thermal transients in processes like injection molding or packaging seal bars, where a slower controller would let the temperature overshoot before the PID loop corrects. The self-tuning algorithm auto-calculates PID parameters during the first heat-up cycle, so you don't need to manually tune for most resistive heater loads. For processes with long thermal lag (large ovens, oil baths), expect to run a second autotune cycle after the system stabilizes.
Panel fit and integration
The 1/8 DIN form factor (48 x 96mm panel cutout) is a standard footprint found across most control panel layouts. It snaps into the cutout with the included mounting bracket — no DIN rail required. Depth behind the panel is roughly 100mm including the screw-terminal block, so check clearance against any backplane wiring ducts. The 50ms sampling speed is the controller's update rate on the input signal, not the output response time. If you're driving a SSR or relay output, the total loop time adds the output device's switching delay. For fast processes like infrared heater control, pair it with a solid-state relay rated for fast cycling.
Sourcing and lifecycle
Because it's a current-production item, the supply posture is straightforward: quoted to order against an RFQ. For BOM-freeze or multi-year project planning, the current status gives confidence that the part won't vanish mid-production run — though always worth checking the manufacturer's PCN feed for any future changes.
