That 50 ms cycle means it can respond to fast thermal transients — think injection molding nozzle zones or small-diameter extrusion barrels where a standard 250 ms controller would let the temperature overshoot before the PID loop corrects.

Depth behind the panel is shallow enough that it clears a typical 100 mm deep enclosure backplate without interfering with terminal blocks or DIN-rail mounted relays. The self-tuning feature means you can skip the manual PID calculation step during commissioning — set the setpoint, let the controller cycle the output once or twice, and it locks in the P, I, and D terms.
