The PXF5ACS2-MBTA1 is a self-tuning 1/8 DIN (48 x 96mm) compact temperature and process controller with a 50ms sampling speed — a tight loop for a panel-mount instrument, fast enough to catch a thermocouple swing on a burner flame or a process heater before the deviation alarm trips.
What the sampling speed means for the loop
50 ms sampling means the controller updates its PID output every 50 milliseconds. On a thermal process with a time constant in the seconds range that is ample headroom, but on a fast-responding electric heater or a small gas-fired duct the speed matters: the controller sees the temperature change within one mains cycle and can trim the output before overshoot accumulates. For a steam-cycle engineer, that is the difference between a stable superheat temperature and a control valve hunting through its stroke.
Panel integration and wiring
The 1/8 DIN (48 x 96mm) cutout is a standard panel-mount footprint shared across the PXF5 family. Spring-cage or screw terminals on the rear accept 0.2–2.5 mm² conductors; strip length 8 mm. The self-tuning algorithm runs on first power-up with a stable process — it steps the output and measures the response, then sets P, I, and D gains automatically. For a replacement in an existing panel, verify the input type (thermocouple, RTD, or linear process signal) matches the original configuration before applying power.
