What the sampling speed means for your loop
A 50 ms sampling period means the controller updates its PID output every 50 milliseconds. For a temperature loop on a plastic extruder barrel or a diffusion furnace, that is fast enough to catch thermal overshoot before it settles into the product. Slower controllers (100 ms or 200 ms) let a spike pass unmeasured between samples; at 50 ms you get tighter regulation on fast-responding processes.
Panel fit and form factor
The 1/8 DIN cutout (48 x 96 mm) is a standard panel-mount size shared across most temperature controller families. If you are swapping out an older 1/8 DIN unit, the PXF5AEP2-0BVA1 drops into the same hole without reworking the panel.
