30 mm proximity — what it guards and where it fits
The Omron E3SGS3B4 is a grooved-type photoelectric proximity sensor with a 30 mm sensing range using an infrared LED light source — it detects objects passing through the slot without contact, making it a fit for presence/absence checks on assembly lines or part-in-place verification in packaging machinery. The 1 ms response time means it catches fast-moving parts on a conveyor running at several meters per second — the sensor's output settles within one millisecond of the object entering the detection zone, so a downstream PLC or counter sees a clean edge. Rated IP67, the sensor body and the cable entry withstand washdown — suitable for food processing lines or outdoor conveyor sections where hose-down cleaning is routine.
PNP output and wiring — direct to the PLC input card
The PNP (sourcing) output switches 100 mA at 12–24 VDC — it drives a standard PLC digital input directly without an interposing relay, and the 100 mA ceiling covers most input card sink currents plus a small margin for indicator lamps. Light/Dark ON switching (selectable) gives flexibility: wire it for dark-on to detect a missing part in a nest, or light-on for presence detection — no extra converter needed. The 2 m cable terminates directly in the panel or junction box — no separate cordset to source or lose, which simplifies spares stocking for MRO crews.
