The Schneider Electric A9R84463 is a 4-pole residual current circuit breaker (RCCB) from the Acti9 iID range, rated for 63 A continuous current with a 300 mA earth-leakage sensitivity. The 300 mA threshold is typical for whole-building or submain protection where a lower 30 mA trip would cause nuisance tripping from normal cable leakage.
Breaking and making capacity is rated at 1500 A (Idm and Im) — this is the short-circuit withstand capability of the RCCB itself; upstream protection (MCB or fuse) must limit fault current to this level. The device is voltage-independent for tripping: the residual current detection and mechanical trip mechanism operate without needing an external power supply, so it still protects even if the neutral is lost upstream. Earth-leakage protection is instantaneous (no intentional time delay), so it trips within the standard response time of an RCCB — typically under 40 ms at rated residual current. This makes it suitable for outgoing feeders where fast disconnection is required, but not for selectivity with downstream 30 mA RCCBs unless coordinated by cascading.
Installation and wiring notes
Wire stripping length is 14 mm. The device occupies 8 modular pitches (9 mm each), so it needs 72 mm of DIN rail space. The contact position indicator shows whether the contacts are open or closed — useful during commissioning and fault finding.
