630 A Fuse Switch Disconnector for Motor and Distribution Circuits
The GS1SB4 is a 4-pole fuse switch disconnector body from the TeSys GS range, designed for AC and DC networks at 50/60 Hz. It accepts BS-type fuses (size C2 C1) and is rated for a conventional free air thermal current of 630 A at 104 °F (40 °C). In AC-23B duty at 400 V, the making capacity is 6300 A and the breaking capacity is 5040 A — sufficient for switching motor loads with occasional inrush. The rated operational power reaches 355 kW at 400 V AC-23A/B, and up to 400 kW at 690 V AC-23A/B.
Mounting, Protection, and Environmental Ratings
Mounts on a plate or DIN rail. The body measures 10.6 in deep, 19.7 in wide, and 11.8 in high — plan for panel cutout and clearance around the external right-side or frontal operating handle. IP20 protection with the terminal cover fitted (IEC 60529) — suitable for enclosed panel installation where no water ingress is expected. The body and fuse cover meet fire-resistance ratings of 1760 °F (960 °C) and 1562 °F (850 °C) respectively per IEC 60695-2-1. Operates in ambient temperatures from -4 °F to 158 °F (-20 °C to 70 °C) with TH protective treatment. Rated insulation voltage is 1000 V AC, and impulse withstand voltage is 12 kV.
Durability and Connection Details
Mechanical durability is 8000 cycles; electrical durability is 1000 cycles in AC-23A/B and 200 cycles in DC-23A/B. These figures set the expected service life before contact maintenance — relevant for MRO planning on frequently switched loads. Power circuit terminals accept up to 2 × 0.5 in² (300 mm²) flexible cable via screw terminals or bars. Control circuit tightening torque is 389.4 lbf·in (44 N·m). The short-circuit making capacity with BS fuses is 630 kA at 400 V.
