The Schneider VW3A28407 is an RFI suppression filter sized for the ATV28HD23N4 and ATV28HD16N4 variable speed drives — three-phase input, 45 A nominal current handling. It sits between the line supply and the drive input, attenuating conducted electromagnetic interference back onto the mains. The 20 W thermal losses mean it dissipates that heat into the enclosure; plan ventilation or derating if the cabinet runs hot. Earth leakage current runs at 400 mA — high enough that a standard 30 mA RCD downstream will nuisance-trip; feed this filter through a dedicated supply or a type B / time-delayed RCD.
Integration notes — cable distance and panel layout
The filter supports a maximum cable distance of 50 m between devices — relevant when the drive sits remote from the filter in a larger panel or separate enclosure. Mount the filter close to the drive input terminals; long unshielded runs between filter and drive defeat the RFI attenuation. Three-phase network, so wire, L2, L3 through the filter block before the drive.
