What the 50 A Rating Means for Fit
The 50 A continuous rating governs the maximum load current the filter can carry without saturating its common-mode choke or exceeding its thermal limit. In a drive application, this means the filter is sized for a drive whose rated input current does not exceed 50 A — typically a 30–37 kW (40–50 hp) three-phase motor on a 400 V supply, depending on the drive's own derating curve. As a three-phase filter, it connects between the mains supply and the drive's line input, attenuating both differential-mode and common-mode noise across the 150 kHz to 30 MHz range typical of EMC standards such as IEC 61800-3. Mounting it close to the drive's line terminals and keeping the input/output cables separated preserves the filter's insertion loss.
