Turret-head positioning and the 32 mm sensing window
The XS8C4A4NCP20: The 5-position turret head means you rotate the detection face to point up, down, left, right, or straight-on without unbolting the body — saves time when the target approach angle isn't obvious until the machine is framed up. 32 mm operating zone catches ferrous targets at a distance that keeps the sensor out of crash range on conveyors or transfer stations; the 3-15% differential travel means it releases cleanly without chatter on slow-moving parts. Repeat accuracy ≤3% of Sr holds position repeatability within about 1 mm — tight enough for presence detection on pallet stops but not for precision measurement.
Washdown-ready build and terminal wiring
IP67/IP69K means the PBT housing and front face survive hot-water spray-down at 80 bar, 80°C — this is a sensor that stays on the line in food, beverage, or washdown zones without a secondary cover. Screw-clamp terminals accepting 4 x 1.5 mm² through a single M20 x 1.5 cable entry — no special crimp tool needed, just a screwdriver and a PG gland. The 4-wire DC circuit gives you NO and NC in the same body, so you can wire a safety-monitored input and a PLC input off one sensor. Green power LED and yellow output LED tell you at a glance whether the sensor sees power and whether it's seeing metal — no multimeter needed for first-pass fault isolation.
Supply voltage range and switching speed
10-58 VDC supply covers 12 V, 24 V, and 48 V control buses without a separate regulator — one sensor SKU for mixed-voltage panels. 200 Hz switching frequency limits the sensor to targets moving slower than about 6 m/s at 32 mm range — fine for part-present on a 1 m/s conveyor, but not for high-speed indexing. Response delay is 1.4 ms, recovery 2.5 ms; first power-up stabilises in 7.5 ms. No-load current consumption 0-15 mA means it won't stress a 24 VDC power supply even on a long daisy-chain.
The CE marking covers EU machinery directive compliance, and the IP ratings are tested to IEC 60529 and DIN 40050.
