Schneider Altivar ATV320, ATV340, and ATV630 Drives in 2026: Sourcing Compact and Process VFDs for SEA Panel Builders Serving Data-Center Cooling, Water Treatment, and HVAC
Schneider Altivar ATV320, ATV340, and ATV630 Drives in 2026: Sourcing Compact and Process VFDs for SEA Panel Builders Serving Data-Center Cooling, Water Treatment, and HVAC
Your panel has a chilled-water pump spec, the building is in Cyberjaya or Jakarta, and the question from the buyer is no longer "is there a Schneider Altivar drive on stock" but "is there one with the right frame, the right firmware, and a clean bill of materials we can ship before the cooling tower fan installer walks off site next Thursday." That is the texture of the question we have been answering from our Shenzhen desk for the last six weeks. This article is the working note we are publishing for SEA panel builders who face the same conversation, with the catalog evidence behind every MPN we mention.
The market situation (as of September 2026)
Three forces are pulling on Schneider Altivar demand in Southeast Asia at the same time, and they reinforce each other in a way that has changed how we recommend sizing.
First, hyperscale data-center build-out in Malaysia has moved from forecast to signed contract. On 8 September 2026, Reuters reported that Nvidia-backed Firmus had signed a multi-year deal with OpenAI for AI data-centre capacity in Malaysia, a deal that AFR, The Straits Times, Tech Wire Asia, and TechRepublic also carried on the same day. The Business Times (Singapore) and businesstoday.com.my gave the same news on 8 September 2026. The same day, The Edge Malaysia reported that the country's energy regulator had confirmed that data centres now account for a tenth of Malaysia's electricity consumption. Caixin's 26 August 2026 long-form piece "In Depth: Southeast Asia's AI Data Center Boom Has a Power Problem" had already framed this as a power-infrastructure constraint, and thinkchina.sg's 28 August 2026 "China tech firms drive AI data centre boom in Southeast Asia" laid out the upstream capex behind it. On the supplier side, APAC Data Center Pipeline Surges as AI Pre-Leasing Tightens Supply (Data Center Knowledge, 17 August 2026) and Nation Thailand's 9 September 2026 piece on AI re-ranking of the world's largest data centres make clear that SEA is no longer the third wave of hyperscale — it is the second.
Second, Schneider Electric's industrial-automation business is being pulled upward by the same trend. Investing.com and GuruFocus reported on 30 July 2026 that Schneider Electric lifted its full-year 2026 outlook after a strong H1, with record results driven by data-centre and electrification demand. Investing.com's 26 February 2026 piece on Schneider's FY 2025 results had already put FY 2025 revenues at a record €40bn. On 21 June 2026, vinanet.vn summarised Schneider's Q2 2026 earnings as "strong revenue growth amidst sustained infrastructure demand." Two more cross-checks are worth noting because they affect what we ship: Facilities Dive reported on 16 March 2026 that Schneider introduced next-generation variable-speed HVAC drives to support energy savings, and Schneider Electric South Africa had unveiled the Altivar Process ATV6100 medium-voltage drive on 8 May 2025 for process optimization. Bank of America raised its Schneider Electric price target on 8 September 2026 (ad-hoc-news.de), and on 4 September 2026 24/7 Wall St and AOL both framed Schneider as the direct AI-cooling compounder to Vertiv.
Third, the cooling-pump subsystem is where the demand lands. MarketsandMarkets' 9 July 2026 report puts the Data Center Pumps market at $7.35 billion by 2032; PR Newswire and Yahoo carried MarketsandMarkets' 29 June / 14 August 2026 release that the Data Center Cooling CDU Pumps segment alone is worth $340 million in 2026 and is expected to cross $1.84 billion by 2032. Grand View Research (17 March 2026) sized the Liquid Cooling Pump market on a separate track. Market.us on 8 September 2026 published its Air Conditioning Market 2026-2035 report. Fortune Business Insights' 17 August 2026 Data Center Cooling Market piece rounds out the picture.
The combined read for an SEA panel builder: more chilled-water and condenser-water-pump skids, more cooling-tower-fan VFDs, more secondary-loop drives for air-handling units, all going through the same Schneider channel that is already lifting its 2026 outlook.
What this means for Schneider Altivar buyers
The headline change from January 2026 to September 2026 is not allocation — Schneider has held Altivar supply much steadier than most NA-aligned lines — it is frame and firmware fragmentation. Panel builders we ship to in Malaysia, Indonesia, and Thailand are finding that the same nominal Altivar drive (an ATV320U55N4C, for example) is being quoted with two or three different firmware bundles depending on which batch it came from, and the older bundles are the ones still in SEA distributor stock. That means:
- A panel BOM that worked in Q1 2026 may not validate on the same parameter set in Q4 2026 without a firmware refresh.
- ATV340 (high-performance machine drives, the "between ATV320 and ATV630" tier) is being specified into cooling-pump applications that used to spec ATV320, because Schneider's own literature positions ATV340 as the lower-harmonic option for fan-and-pump curves.
- ATV630 (the Altivar Process family) is being specified into data-centre cooling loops that previously went to ATV630's bigger sibling, the ATV6000, because panel builders want 400V class parts they can ship ex-stock SEA rather than 690V class medium-voltage drives on longer lead.
The other practical consequence is MOQ and bundling. With Schneider lifting its 2026 outlook, MOQs are holding firm rather than softening, and the option-card bundle (a VW3A3616 or VW3A3608 communication card) is no longer being thrown in free of charge the way it was in late 2025. For buyers who used to spec ATV320 + Profinet card + EMC filter as a single PO line, three lines now.
For SEA cooling-pump panel builders specifically, the consequence is that the cooling-tower-fan and chilled-water-pump BOMs that used to be Altivar 320 stock items at your local Schneider dealer are now being quoted at 6-10 week lead times on certain frame sizes, and 12-16 weeks on the larger ATV630 process drives.
What's in our catalog for this work
Below are the Schneider Altivar drives we are stocking and shipping against this work right now. Every MPN listed is a current SKU in our catalog; every score is the current aiDemandScore band (key / secondary); the spec field is the public spec we publish against that SKU.
Altivar ATV320 — compact machine drives for fans, pumps, conveyors
The ATV320 is the workhorse compact drive for SEA panel builders. Frame sizes 0.18 kW to 15 kW, 200V single-phase / 400V three-phase / 600V three-phase variants, book-style and book-side-by-side form factors. Overload 150% for 60s, integrated EMC filter on the "C" suffix, Modbus TCP and CANopen standard, Profinet / EtherCAT / Ethernet/IP via plug-in option cards.
| MPN | Frame | Spec we publish | aiDemandScore |
|---|---|---|---|
| ATV320U06N4C | 0.55 kW 400V | Compact book-style, integrated EMC filter, Modbus TCP | 78.06 (secondary) |
| ATV320U30N4C | 1.5 kW 400V | Compact book-style, integrated EMC filter, Modbus TCP | 79.18 (secondary) |
| ATV320U40N4C | 2.2 kW 400V | Compact book-style, integrated EMC filter, Modbus TCP | 79.26 (secondary) |
| ATV320U55N4C | 3 kW 400V | Compact book-style, integrated EMC filter, Modbus TCP | 79.98 (secondary) |
For SEA cooling-tower-fan applications in the 0.55-3 kW range, the ATV320U06N4C through ATV320U55N4C covers most of what panel builders spec. The "N4" suffix is 380-500V three-phase; the trailing "C" indicates the integrated EMC filter (Class C2). If your panel needs Profinet, plan a separate VW3A3616 or VW3A3608 option card on the PO line — those are score 74.x parts in our catalog and ship independently.
Altivar ATV340 — high-performance machine drives
The ATV340 sits one tier above ATV320. Same frame-size envelope but with higher switching frequency (up to 16 kHz versus ATV320's 8 kHz), faster current loop, and the option-card slot supports more industrial Ethernet protocols out of the box. Schneider markets ATV340 for machine builders who need closed-loop control without stepping up to a servo drive. SEA panel builders are increasingly pulling ATV340 into fan-and-pump duty where the harmonic profile is a spec issue.
| MPN | Frame | Spec we publish | aiDemandScore |
|---|---|---|---|
| ATV340U30N4 | 1.5 kW 400V | High-performance machine drive, Profinet/EtherCAT/EIP via option | 79.90 (secondary) |
| ATV340U55N4 | 3 kW 400V | High-performance machine drive, Profinet/EtherCAT/EIP via option | 80.30 (key) |
| ATV340D15N4 | 11 kW 400V | High-performance machine drive, Profinet/EtherCAT/EIP via option | 79.38 (secondary) |
For SEA chilled-water-pump skids where the spec calls for 4-20 mA + Profinet + integrated EMC filter, the ATV340U55N4 is the panel-builder default in our current RFQ queue.
Altivar ATV630 — process drives for HVAC and water
The ATV630 is the "process" family in the Altivar range. Schneider targets it at HVAC fan-and-pump loops, water and wastewater treatment, and industrial process fans where the application profile is quadratic torque, the duty cycle is continuous, and the harmonic budget is tighter than what ATV320 or ATV340 are designed for. Frame sizes go up to 90 kW in the catalog, with the 690V class variants available on longer lead. The ATV630 ships with the same Modbus TCP / Profinet / Ethernet/IP option-card ecosystem as the ATV340.
| MPN | Frame | Spec we publish | aiDemandScore |
|---|---|---|---|
| ATV630U30N4 | 1.5 kW 400V | Process drive, fan-and-pump profile, integrated EMC filter | 80.54 (key) |
| ATV630U55N4 | 3 kW 400V | Process drive, fan-and-pump profile, integrated EMC filter | 80.90 (key) |
| ATV630U75N4 | 4 kW 400V | Process drive, fan-and-pump profile, integrated EMC filter | 81.50 (key) |
| ATV630D55N4 | 7.5 kW 400V | Process drive, fan-and-pump profile, integrated EMC filter | 79.38 (secondary) |
For SEA data-centre secondary chilled-water loops where the spec calls for 4 kW continuous at 50°C ambient with low-harmonic operation, the ATV630U75N4 is what our customers are pulling into BOM today.
Communication option cards and accessories
The Altivar option-card slot takes the VW3A36xx family. We ship the following cards against Altivar 320 / 340 / 630 builds; the MPNs below are catalog SKUs and the scores reflect current demand:
| MPN | Function | aiDemandScore |
|---|---|---|
| VW3A3608 | Communication option card (specific protocol per suffix) | 74.081 (secondary) |
| VW3A3616 | Communication option card (specific protocol per suffix) | 74.461 (secondary) |
| VW3A3627 | Communication option card (specific protocol per suffix) | 74.157 (secondary) |
A practical note: the "C" suffix on ATV320 drives versus the bare "N4" on ATV340 / ATV630 means the ATV320 ships with integrated EMC filter but the ATV340 and ATV630 in the 1.5-3 kW range ship without. Plan external line filters separately if your panel needs CE Class C2 compliance on those frames.
Buying advice: RFQ, lead time, substitutes, authenticity
The four things our SEA customers are asking us to optimise for right now are: lead time on a specific frame, MOQ on a multi-frame PO, the right option-card bundle, and how to avoid a counterfeit Altivar drive at the local spot-market price.
Lead time by frame, as of September 2026. ATV320U06N4C through ATV320U55N4C (the compact machine range) is the most available tier in our stock; most frames are ex-stock SEA, with the larger 11-15 kW frames running 6-10 weeks. ATV340U30N4 and ATV340U55N4 are at 4-8 weeks on the small frames and 8-12 weeks on the 11 kW frame. ATV630 is the longest: 6-10 weeks on the 1.5-4 kW range and 12-16 weeks on the 7.5 kW and above. These are real ranges, not promises; if you have a hard site date, send the BOM and we will quote against actual stock.
MOQ and bundling. Schneider has not softened MOQs in 2026. On Altivar 320 / 340 / 630 core drives, expect MOQ of one per frame per option-card combination. The option-card MOQ is one card per drive — they do not sell VW3A3616 in bulk without a drive attached. If you need ten drives and ten Profinet cards, plan ten drive lines and ten card lines, not a bundled ten+ten line. We can mix frames in a single PO; we cannot sub-bundle option cards to drives.
Substitutes and cross-references. Where a Schneider Altivar drive is genuinely unavailable, the substitutes panel builders in SEA commonly spec are:
- ABB ACS355 (catalog score 79.66) for ATV320 class compact applications, with a similar compact-frame envelope and similar Profinet / EtherCAT option-card ecosystem.
- ABB ACS580 (covered in our catalog as a separate family) for ATV630 class process applications where harmonic compliance and continuous-duty operation are the spec.
- Mitsubishi FR-E800 for compact fan-and-pump applications where the panel has existing Mitsubishi ecosystem and the customer wants a single-brand PLC + drive stack.
- Inovance MD310 for compact applications where the customer is price-sensitive and accepts a Chinese brand.
For ATV340 specifically, the substitutes are thinner — ATV340 is the closest match to a Yaskawa A1000 or a higher-end Mitsubishi FR-A800 in terms of performance. Yaskawa V1000 is not a catalog family for us; ABB ACS580 with the right option card is the closest we ship.
Counterfeit risk. Counterfeit Altivar drives have been a real problem in the SEA spot market since the 2022-2023 supply shock. The common failures are: wrong weight on the housing (a real ATV320U55N4C is heavier than a clone), wrong terminal block labelling, no Schneider serial-number sticker under the front cover, and a serial that does not validate on Schneider's customer-portal lookup. For any RFQ where the price is 25%+ below our quote, ask for the serial before PO. We publish catalog scores against serial-validated stock.
RFQ checklist. When you send us an RFQ for an Altivar build, the six fields that let us quote fastest:
- Frame size (kW) and supply voltage (400V / 690V).
- Application profile (constant torque / quadratic torque / hoist / servo).
- Communication protocol (Modbus TCP / Profinet / EtherCAT / Ethernet/IP).
- EMC class required (Class C2 / Class C3).
- Ambient temperature at panel (cooling-tower-deck installs run hot).
- Quantity per frame and target site date.
The takeaway
The Schneider Altivar ATV320, ATV340, and ATV630 families are not in allocation the way NA-aligned compact drives are, but the SEA data-centre build-out is pulling the frames and firmware mixes out of the easy-to-spec range, and MOQs are firm. For SEA panel builders cooling-water and HVAC work between now and end of Q1 2027, send us your BOM with frame size, protocol, and EMC class, and we will quote against current stock rather than against a price list.
