Sensor specifics
The Omron E2FM-X5D1-M1TGJ-T-US 0.3M is a shielded M18 inductive proximity sensor with a 5 mm sensing range and a 2-wire DC normally open output, housed entirely in stainless steel. Two-wire DC operation means the sensor acts as a switch in series with the load; polarity must be observed. Shielded construction allows flush mounting in metal — the face sits level with the surrounding surface without sensing through adjacent steel. The M18 thread (36 mm threaded length, 56 mm overall) fits standard 18 mm hole or M18x1 tapped holes. The 0.3 m pigtail terminates in an M12 connector, common for quick disconnect in tight spaces. If a longer cable run is needed, standard M12 female extension cables mate directly. Rated 12 to 24 VDC supply, with the stainless steel case standing up to weld spatter, coolant, and washdown environments where brass or nickel-plated sensors degrade.
