800 A distribution breaker with energy metering
It carries a MicroLogic 5.0 E electronic trip unit with LSI protection curves — long-time overload, short-time short-circuit, and instantaneous — plus an integrated energy meter that reports consumption through the LCD display. The 85 kA Icu at 240 V AC and 50 kA at 415 V AC (both per IEC 60947-2) give it the interrupting capacity for high-fault service-entrance or sub-feed positions where coordination with downstream breakers matters.
The N breaking capacity code (50 kA at 415 V AC) places this breaker in the standard-interrupting tier of the ComPacT NS630b...1600 family. That curve means the C080N35EFM handles most 400 V distribution panels without cascading upstream, but for 690 V motor-control centers the 30 kA ceiling may require a higher-rated upstream device if the available fault current exceeds that. The 20-minute thermal memory (MicroLogic 5.0 E standard) prevents nuisance tripping on repeated inrush — useful for transformer or capacitor-bank switching.
Fixed-mount on a backplate, 210 mm wide × 327 mm high × 147 mm deep. Front-connect terminals at 70 mm pitch — standard for busbar or cable lug termination. The 3-pole format with no earth-leakage module keeps the footprint clean for distribution-only circuits. Mechanical durability is 10,000 cycles; electrical durability ranges from 2,000 cycles at 690 V In up to 6,000 cycles at 440 V In/2, so it is rated for occasional switching but not frequent motor-start duty.
