80 A MCCB with a breaking-capacity ladder that covers most distribution panels
The Schneider Electric C10S2TM080 is a ComPacT NSX100S 2-pole MCCB rated 80 A at 40 °C with a TM-D thermal-magnetic trip unit. The TM-D provides L (overload, thermal) and I (short-circuit, magnetic) protection — the standard dual-slop curve for distribution and light motor feeder duty. The 70 mm wide, 161 mm high fixed-mount body (86 mm depth) fits backplate-mount panels with a 35 mm connection pitch. The S breaking capacity code means 70 kA Icu at 415 V AC, 100 kA at 240 V AC, and 35 kA at 525 V AC — enough headroom for most industrial distribution boards without cascading upstream.
Above 40 °C the trip unit derates — the thermal element responds to ambient heat, so a panel running at 50 °C needs a higher-rated frame or forced ventilation. The 100 kA at 240 V AC covers high-fault residential or light commercial service entrances; the 35 kA at 525 V AC suits 480 V industrial systems. The 2-pole configuration (2P) protects two phases or one phase plus neutral in a single-phase or split-phase distribution. The TM-D trip unit has a fixed magnetic pickup — no interchangeable rating plugs — so the 80 A setting is permanent.
Deployment context
The IK07 impact rating (per IEC 62262) handles accidental tool drops during maintenance. Pollution degree 3 (IEC 60664-1) means it tolerates conductive dust in industrial environments without conformal coating.
