Motor-protection circuit breaker, 220 A, 100 kA Icu
The C25W32M220 is a ComPacT NSX250HB2 motor-protection circuit breaker from Schneider Electric's ComPacT NSX range, rated 220 A at 65 °C with a MicroLogic 2.2 M electronic trip unit. It delivers 100 kA Icu breaking capacity at 690 V AC 50/60 Hz per IEC 60947-2 — that is the fault-clearing capability at the full rated voltage, not a derated figure. The MicroLogic 2.2 M trip unit provides L (long-time overload), So (short-time short-circuit with fixed delay), and I (instantaneous short-circuit) protection curves, with selectable motor tripping classes 5, 10, and 20. That range covers standard motor start profiles from fast-ramping small motors (class 5) up to high-inertia loads like centrifuges or crushers (class 20).
The 35 mm connection pitch matches common distribution block and busbar patterns. IP40 front-face protection and IK07 impact resistance mean it is suited for enclosed panel installation where incidental contact and light mechanical shock are the main environmental risks — not washdown, not outdoor exposure.
Electrical durability and duty cycle
Rated for 20,000 mechanical cycles and 10,000 electrical cycles at full rated current (440 V, In). At half-load (In/2) the electrical endurance doubles to 20,000 cycles at 440 V, and at 690 V it is rated 5,000 cycles at full current and 10,000 at half-load. For a motor starter duty cycle — say one start per hour, 24/7 — that translates to roughly 2–4 years of electrical life before the contact tips need inspection, depending on the actual switching load and voltage.
