It is rated for 315 A conventional free air thermal current at 40 °C, making it suitable for high-current isolation and protection in industrial power distribution. Rated operational current reaches 315 A at 400 V in AC-23B duty, which covers switching of motor loads and other highly inductive circuits. The breaking capacity is 2520 A at 400 V AC-23B, and the making capacity is 3150 A at the same voltage — these ratings define the fault-clearing capability for the connected load. Rated operational power is 132 kW at 400 V for both AC-23A and AC-23B categories, scaling to 220 kW at 690 V. The short-circuit withstand rating is 80 kA, and with associated BS fuses the rated short-circuit making capacity reaches 315 kA at 400 V.
Mounts on a rail or plate. The body dimensions are 337 mm wide, 205 mm high, and 149 mm deep — plan for this footprint in the panel layout. Power connections are via bars or screw terminals accepting 185 to 240 mm² flexible cable; control circuit and power circuit tightening torque is 25 N.m on screw terminals and bars. IP20 protection with the terminal cover fitted, per IEC 60529. The body is fire-resistant to 960 °C and the fuse cover to 850 °C, conforming to IEC 60695-2-1.
Designed and tested to IEC 60947-3 (switch-disconnectors), IEC 60269-2 (BS fuse links), and IEC 60269-1 (general fuse requirements).
