Integrator's note for this 24mm shielded sensor
The XS618B3DBM12 is a current-production Telemecanique XS6 inductive proximity sensor in a 24 mm diameter brass body with nickel plating. It carries overload, reverse polarity, and short-circuit protection built into the housing — three protections that reduce warranty returns on simple on/off presence detection. The NC output (normally closed) means the sensor opens its transistor when a target enters the sensing field; verify your PLC or relay input expects a sinking (NPN) or sourcing (PNP) signal — the NC symbol alone doesn't tell you polarity, only the contact logic. Sensing distance is 4 mm minimum, 8 mm maximum for a standard ferrous target. The shielded face allows flush-mounting in metal, with operating temperature range -13 °F to 158 °F.

IP67 and IP69K ratings are included; M12 connector is 4-pin, 2-wire direct connector. This sensor is 12-24 V DC only, not AC rated.
