M18 Shielded Inductive Sensor with Universal Supply
The XS618B1MBU20 is an M18 shielded inductive proximity sensor from the XS6 series with an 8 mm maximum sensing distance—longer than typical M18 shielded sensors thanks to the Extended Range feature. It runs on any supply from 24 up to 240 V AC or DC, so one part covers both line voltages and eliminates separate AC/DC SKUs. The NC output (2-wire, normally closed) mates with standard PLC digital inputs or relay coils. The 3-pin 1/2-in connector makes replacement fast—no need to strip and terminate wires. Body is nickel-plated brass rated IP67 and IP69K, with NEMA 4X, so it survives washdown in food or pharmaceutical lines without a secondary enclosure.
Why Choose This Over a Larger Sensor or a DC-Only Option?
Compared to the larger M30 XSAV02801 (15 mm range, bare-wire cable, DC-only), the XS618B1MBU20 saves panel space with an M18 mounting hole and a connector that cuts installation time. The XSAV02801 offers a longer sensing distance but requires a 30 mm hole and a prewired cable—useful if you need reach and don't mind the larger footprint. The XS618B1MBU20 also runs on AC, so it's the only choice if your control circuit is line-powered. For a block-style alternative, the XS8D1A1MAU20 offers a 60 mm sensing distance in a rectangular PBT housing, but it's unshielded and requires a larger cutout. The XS618B1MBU20's shielded face allows flush mounting without derating—critical when you can't maintain the standard standoff.
M18 threaded body, 73 mm overall height. Shielded face permits flush mounting; sensing distance remains at 8 mm when the face is level with the surrounding metal. The 2-wire NC output is polarity-insensitive but keep the load current under 300 mA. Use a standard 3-pin micro (1/2-in) cordsets—pins are numbered per industry convention.
