The SICK IM12-02BPS-ZC1 is a cylindrical-threaded inductive sensor in a 12 mm diameter plastic housing, designed for flush mounting. The 2 mm flush sensing range is the key fit parameter: this sensor must be mounted flush with the surrounding metal (no recess or standoff) and will detect a standard steel target at exactly that distance. The PNP output is sourcing — it switches positive to the load — so it mates directly with sinking (NPN) PLC input cards only through an interface relay or a compatible PNP input module. The 2000 Hz switching frequency handles fast-moving parts on a pick-and-place or indexing conveyor; slower sensors would miss targets at that line rate. IP67 enclosure rating means the sensor body and sensing face withstand temporary immersion in water — suitable for washdown areas in food processing or outdoor installations where hose-down cleaning is routine.
Integration notes
The M12 male connector (4-pin, 2 used) simplifies field wiring — a standard M12 cordset mates directly, no gland or terminal strip needed inside the panel. The 65 mm body length fits through a 12 mm mounting hole in a bracket or machine frame. Voltage drop across the sensor is ≤ 1.2 V at rated load, so the load sees at least 22.8 V on a 24 V nominal supply.
