The SICK WL150-P420 is a retro-reflective photoelectric sensor from the W150 series, delivering a 700 mm sensing range with a visible red LED and PNP output. The 10 mm wide housing fits into tight panel spaces where every millimeter of DIN rail counts — that's another SKU that won't hog the rail. Rated IP67, the sensor body and optics hold up to washdown environments — suitable for food-and-bev lines or outdoor conveyor sections where hose-down cleaning is routine. Response time of 500 µs catches fast-moving parts on a conveyor without missing a beat; the 100 mA PNP output drives PLC inputs or small relays directly.
Integration notes
M8 4-pin connector mates to standard M8 cordsets — no special tooling needed. The 10–30 VDC supply range covers 24 VDC panels with headroom; Light-ON / Dark-ON switching selectable via wiring, so one part covers both N.O. and N.C. logic without a separate model.
The WS/WE150-P430 is the through-beam pair in the same W150 family — same 10 mm width, same M8 connector, same IP67. The WL150-P420 retro-reflective sensor needs only one device plus a reflector, cutting installation time and wiring by half compared to the through-beam pair. Range drops from 4.4 m (through-beam) to 700 mm (retro-reflective), but for short-range detection on a conveyor or packaging machine, the retro-reflective saves a SKU and a cable run.
