Retro-reflective sensor with 10 m reach and IO-Link
The SICK WLA16P-24162130A00Z2 is a photoelectric retro-reflective sensor from the W16 family, delivering a 10 m sensing distance with a visible red PinPoint LED. The 10 m range means it reliably detects a reflector-mounted target across a conveyor belt or through a pallet rack opening — the retro-reflective principle simplifies wiring because the emitter and receiver share one housing, with only a passive reflector at the far end. The 500 µs response time keeps up with fast-moving packages on a sortation line. Output is push-pull, so it interfaces with both PNP and NPN inputs without a conversion relay. IO-Link capability (switching type listed as IO-Link) gives the controller access to diagnostic data and lets you adjust switching thresholds remotely — useful when the line changes product height or color. The M12, 4-pin connector mates to standard field-wired cordsets; no panel-side breakout required.
Sealed for washdown: IP66, IP67, IP69
Rated IP66, IP67, and IP69, this sensor handles high-pressure hot-water washdown common in food-and-beverage and pharmaceutical lines. The IP69 rating specifically tests against 80 °C water at 80–100 bar — the same regime used in CIP (clean-in-place) cycles. The 20 mm wide housing and 55.7 mm height fit the standard W16 footprint, so it drops into existing brackets or DIN-rail mounts without re-drilling the panel. Operating temperature spans -40 °C to +60 °C, covering freezer-warehouse applications and hot factory floors. Supply voltage range is 10 V to 30 V, with the load current capped at 100 mA — enough to drive a small PLC input or a relay coil directly.
