The SICK WTB26P-24161120A00Z is a photoelectric proximity sensor from the W26 family, designed for background-suppression detection of objects within a 1.6 m range. It uses a red LED light source and outputs a switching signal in PNP, NPN, or Push-Pull format, selectable via wiring. The 500 µs response time keeps up with fast-moving targets on a conveyor or pick-and-place station. IP69 protection means the sensor withstands high-pressure, high-temperature washdown cycles common in food-and-beverage, tire manufacturing, and heavy washdown environments. The M12 4-pin connector simplifies field replacement — no hardwiring into the sensor head.
The 1.6 m sensing distance is the maximum range for a white 90% reflective target. For dark or matte objects, expect that range to shrink — background suppression works by triangulation, so a black target at 1.6 m may not trigger reliably. The minimum sensing distance of 30 mm means the sensor can detect objects very close to the lens face, useful for tight clearance applications. Light-ON / Dark-ON switching is selected by wiring the output accordingly — no DIP switch or software config needed. The 100 mA load current drives a PLC input or small relay directly, but check the total loop draw if powering multiple sensors from one supply. Operating voltage range is 10–30 VDC. Temperature range is -40 to +60 °C.
Where to use this class of sensor
Mounting footprint is 25 mm wide × 53 mm tall × 83 mm deep — standard W26 form factor. If replacing an older W26 sensor, the same bracket and gland plate hole pattern fits. The M12 connector orientation is axial (straight out the back), so leave clearance for the mating cordset.
