The SICK WTF12-3P2431 is a photoelectric proximity sensor from the W12-3 series, delivering a 175 mm sensing range with a visible red LED light source. Its PNP output switches at 330 µs, making it suitable for high-speed object detection on packaging or material-handling lines. The 15.6 mm wide housing fits standard 18 mm pitch mounting holes, so it drops into existing W12-3 footprints without panel rework.
The IP66 / IP67 / IP69K protection rating means the sensor body and optics withstand high-pressure washdown at 80 bar and 80 °C, so it is qualified for food-and-beverage and pharmaceutical clean-in-place (CIP) zones. The 175 mm sensing distance is a background-suppression type — it detects objects reliably within that window while ignoring backgrounds beyond it, which avoids false triggers on conveyor belts or machine frames. The 100 mA load current drives most PLC inputs and small relays directly, without an interposing amplifier.
Integration notes
The M12 4-pin connector (male on the sensor) mates to standard M12 cordsets. Wiring is PNP normally-open / normally-closed selectable via light-on / dark-on switching. Operating voltage range of 10–30 VDC covers 24 VDC nominal supplies common in automation panels. The -40 °C to +60 °C temperature range allows deployment in cold storage or near washdown areas without derating.
