What this auxiliary switch block does
The 3RH2911-1NL40-0MC0 is a front-mounted auxiliary switch block for Siemens SIRIUS contactors in frame sizes S00, S0, S2, and S3. It provides four normally-open (NO) instantaneous contacts — one of which is rated as solid-state compatible for switching low-level signals without contact oxidation issues. The solid-state compatible contact path (terminals 13/14) is designed for reliable switching down to 5 V, 1 mA, with a contact reliability of one incorrect switching operation per 100 million operations — essential for PLC inputs or electronic control circuits where standard contacts can fail from oxide film build-up.
Panel fit and wiring details
Snap-on mounting to the contactor front — no tools required for attachment. The block measures 36 mm wide by 43.7 mm deep by 37.5 mm high, fitting within the contactor envelope without adding panel depth beyond the contactor body. AWG equivalent is 2x (20…16) or 2x (18…14). The dual-wire termination allows daisy-chaining common signals without extra terminal blocks. Front protection class IP20 means the terminals are touch-safe from the front but the block is not sealed against dust ingress — suitable for enclosed panels only, not open or washdown environments.
Environmental limits and service life
The wide storage envelope covers cold warehouse or hot container shipping without damage. Mechanical service life is 5 million operating cycles typical — driven by the contactor's own wear, not the switch block. The block carries no mirror contact per IEC 60947-4-1 — it is not certified for safety-related feedback in welded-contact detection circuits. For safety applications requiring a mirror contact, use the 3RH29 series variant with that designation.
