What this MCCB is and what it does
The Siemens SENTRON 3VA1080-3ED42-0CC0 is a 4-pole molded case circuit breaker (MCCB) designed for line protection in distribution panels. It carries 80 A continuously at 40 °C and derates to 74 A at 70 °C, so it's sized for a feeder or main branch in a 400 V industrial panel where ambient temperatures stay within that range.
Interrupting capacity — what the numbers mean
This breaker clears 75.6 kA at 240 V, 52.5 kA at 415 V, and 32 kA at 440 V. At 500 V and 690 V it still holds 7.5 kA. Those are the maximum fault currents it can safely interrupt without welding contacts or rupturing the case — critical for coordination studies where the available fault current at the panel exceeds 50 kA.
Integrated accessories
Factory-fitted with an undervoltage release (UVR) and two auxiliary switches (HQ design). The UVR trips the breaker when control voltage drops below a threshold — standard for emergency-stop or safety circuits that need to drop power on loss of control supply. No ground-fault monitoring or communication module on this variant.
Panel fit and dimensions
Mounts on a DIN rail or panel-mount plate. Dimensions are 101.6 mm wide (4 in), 130 mm tall (5.12 in), and 70 mm deep (2.76 in). The 4-pole width means it occupies four module spaces on a standard DIN rail — factor that into your enclosure fill and gland-plate layout.
