What this MCCB carries
The Siemens SENTRON 3VM1140-5ED32-0AA0 is a 3-pole molded case circuit breaker rated 40 A continuous at 40 °C, with a TM210 thermal-magnetic overcurrent release. It's built for line protection — no undervoltage release, no ground-fault monitoring, no communication module. Just the breaker, the trip curve, and the interrupting capacity. Interrupting capacity is the headline here: 187 kA at 240 V AC, 121 kA at 415 V, 76 kA at 440 V, and 17 kA at 500 V. That's high-rupture-capacity territory — enough to handle large transformer-fed faults or tie into a high-fault utility feed without cascading upstream. Thermal derating is flat from 40 °C to 50 °C (40 A), then drops to 39 A at 55–60 °C, 38 A at 65 °C, and 37 A at 70 °C. If the panel runs hot, you lose 3 A off the top — plan the load margin accordingly.
Where it fits
Panel footprint is 76.2 mm wide, 130 mm tall, 70 mm deep — standard 3-pole MCCB slot on a DIN rail or direct-mount plate. IP40 on the front keeps dust out of the enclosure; the rest of the breaker is inside the panel, so no washdown rating needed. Rated insulation voltage 800 V, max operating voltage 690 V AC, 500 V DC. Power loss is 11 W maximum.
