What it is and what it does
The Siemens 6GT2811-6CA10-2AA0 is an RF600-series UHF RFID reader for the 920-925 MHz band, built for industrial automation networks. It supports PROFINET IO, EtherNet/IP, and OPC UA, so it drops into a Siemens or Rockwell control architecture without a protocol converter. DCP and LLDP are on board, meaning the commissioning engineer can assign an IP address and discover the device on the network without a laptop — handy when the line is down and the only tool is a phone running a discovery app. Transmit power is adjustable from 10 mW up to 2000 mW, which covers read ranges from near-contact to about 8 m with the included antenna. The polarization is switchable between linear (horizontal or vertical), circular, or combined, so you can tune the field pattern to the tag orientation on the product — no need to carry a separate circular-polarized antenna for pallet reads.
Mounting and integration
The housing is IP65-rated, aluminum and Pocan, sized 258 x 258 x 80 mm. It mounts on a VESA 100 pattern with four M4 screws, or clips onto a 35 mm DIN rail, or attaches to a profile rail. The reader has four digital inputs, which can be wired to a light curtain or a start button to trigger a read cycle — no PLC input card needed for that logic. The external antenna connects via RP-TNC, and the kit includes one antenna plus a DIN-rail mounting set.
Environmental and reliability
Operating temperature is -25 to +55 °C, storage and transport -40 to +85 °C. Shock resistance is tested to EN 60068-2-27 at 250 m/s², vibration to EN 60068-2-6 at 30 m/s². MTBF is 29 a.
