What it is and what it does
The Siemens 6GT2811-6CC10-1AA0 is a UHF RFID reader from the RF600 family, operating in the 902-928 MHz band. It reads passive transponders at up to 4 m with the internal antenna, and 1.6 m with that same internal antenna — the range table in the RF600 System Manual covers extended ranges with external antennas. The reader communicates over PROFINET IO and EtherNet/IP, with DCP and LLDP support for network discovery and configuration. Power is supplied via an M12 8-pin connector at 24 V DC, drawing 0.22 A maximum.
Where it goes and how it mounts
The reader is built for industrial environments: IP67 rating means the housing and the M12 connector survive washdown, dust, and moisture on a factory floor or in a logistics portal. It mounts via Vesa 100 pattern with four M4 screws, so it bolts directly to standard brackets or machine frames. The housing is Pocan (a glass-reinforced thermoplastic) in silver and TI-Grey, sized 133 x 133 x 45 mm. Operating temperature range is -25 to +55 °C, storage and transport from -40 to +85 °C.
Key ratings and what they mean for fit
The 902-928 MHz band covers the UHF RFID spectrum used in the Americas and some other regions — not the EU 865-868 MHz band, so verify regional compliance before specifying. The 4 m maximum range with the internal antenna is enough for a conveyor portal or a dock door; extended ranges require an external antenna connected via the RP-TNC port. Transmit power is adjustable from 10 to 400 mW (3 to 400 mW), letting you tune the read zone to avoid interference with adjacent readers. The single digital input can be used for a trigger sensor or a gate signal. LED bars (6 LEDs plus one circulating LED) give local read-status indication without a screen.
