15 mm shielded inductive sensor, M30 barrel
The Omron E2A-M30KS15-M1-C1 is an M30 threaded-barrel inductive proximity switch with a 15 mm nominal sensing distance on mild steel. The 'KS15' in the order code tells you it's a shielded (flush-mount) head — you can embed it in a metal bracket without worrying about false triggers from the surrounding steel. The 'M1-C1' suffix means the output is PNP normally-open, 3-wire DC.
What the 15 mm range means on the line
15 mm is a solid mid-range detection zone for an M30 body. It catches a pallet lug or a can body well before contact, but it's not a long-range sensor — you'd use this where the target passes within a hand's width of the face. The shielded construction gives you a repeatable sensing point even when the sensor is countersunk into a machine frame, which is the usual install for part-present detection on a conveyor or a transfer station.
