M8 inductive proximity sensor, 4 mm sensing distance
Omron's E2E-X4MC1L8-M1TJ 0.3M is an unshielded inductive proximity sensor from the E2E NEXT series, housed in an M8 threaded stainless steel cylinder. It detects ferrous metal at 4 mm, outputs a NPN NO signal over a 3-wire cable with connector, and runs on 10 to 30 VDC. Response frequency of 1 kHz suits applications like spindle speed sensing or cam detection on fast packaging lines. IP67 and IP69K ratings allow direct washdown without a separate enclosure, so it can be mounted directly on machine frames in food or pharmaceutical areas. Operating range of -25 °C to 70 °C covers most indoor industrial environments and some outdoor cabinet applications.
Mounting and wiring notes
Mount with the M8 threaded barrel into a standard M8 tapped hole or bracket. The unshielded design means no extra clearance required around the sensing face, but keep the target path free of non-ferrous materials. Wire the 3-wire NPN NO output: brown to 10V positive, blue to common, black to the PLC sinking input. The cable with connector allows quick disconnect. Stainless steel body holds up in corrosive washdown environments; use an IP69K-rated mating cordset to maintain the rating at the connection point.
