M8 Shielded Proximity with IO-Link
The Omron E2E-X4B1D8-M1 is a shielded M8 proximity switch from the E2E NEXT series, rated for 4 mm sensing distance on ferrous metals. The PNP normally open output and 3-wire DC configuration match the input requirements of most PLC digital cards. The M12 connector makes field replacement a quick unplug-and-swap — no rewiring, no terminal strip retermination. IO-Link communication at 38.4 kbps is carried on the same M12 pinout, giving access to the sensor's identification, distance trending, and internal temperature without adding a separate diagnostic wire. For a condition-monitoring approach, this means you can watch the sensing window drift over time — the spectrum doesn't lie when a target is walking off-center.
Integration Notes
