What this sensor does
The E2E2-X10MY1-US: This is an Omron E2E2 series inductive proximity sensor – unshielded (non-flush), M18 threaded body, 2-wire AC output. It detects ferrous metal targets up to 10 mm away and switches a normally-open (NO) output rated for 300 mA max, 5 mA min. Supply voltage range is 20-264 VAC, so it runs directly off a control transformer without a separate DC supply. The prewired 2 m cable (bare wire ends) and included mounting hardware simplify installation. An integral indicator light shows target presence.
Sibling check – shielded vs unshielded
The closest same-diameter peer is the E2E2-X5Y1-US – same M18 body, same 2-wire AC output, same cable length, but shielded (flush-mountable) with a shorter 5 mm sensing distance. Swapping to the unshielded E2E2-X10MY1-US buys you double the sensing distance, but it cannot be mounted flush in metal: the unshielded face needs a derating zone (typically the sensor must protrude or have a non-ferrous gap around the face). Also note the -US suffix limits operating temperature to -13°F to +158°F, whereas the non-US siblings (E2E2-X10Y1, E2E2-X5Y1) cover -40°F to +185°F. If your panel sees extreme cold or heat, verify the narrower range still fits.
Mounting and environmental notes
The M18 threaded body is brass with nickel plating; the milled section accepts a wrench for secure tightening. The cable protector at the sensor exit prevents strain on the 2 m prewired cable. IP67 and NEMA 1, 12, 13, 4, 6 ratings mean it handles washdown, dust, and temporary submersion – suitable for packaging, conveyor, or outdoor installations. Operating temperature is -13°F to +158°F; storage beyond that range is possible but not for running. The unshielded construction requires a non-metal mounting surface or proper derating when installed in a metal panel.
