What it is and key specifications
The Omron E2EX1R5C282M is an M8 shielded inductive proximity sensor from the E2E NEXT series, with a 2 mm sensing distance and NPN normally-closed output. Rated IP67G and IP69K, the stainless steel body and cutting-oil resistance allow installation in washdown zones and metalworking environments. A cable protector is included. The 3-wire DC supply accepts 10–30 V DC; the NPN sinking output switches up to 200 mA. Certifications include CCC, CE, and UR.
What the ratings mean for fit
Shielded construction limits the sensing field to the front face, so the sensor can be flush-mounted in metal without derating the 2 mm range. That range is typical for M8 – expect reliable detection of ferrous targets at that gap. NPN normally-closed output means the load is active until the target enters the sensing face – often chosen for fail-safe interlocking or to match sinking PLC input cards. The 200 mA load limit covers most industrial relay or small solenoid loads directly. The IP69K ingress rating, combined with cutting-oil resistance, makes this sensor suitable for food-processing lines, carwash tunnels, or machining centers where high-pressure spray is routine.
