What the 2 mm range means for your line
The Omron E2FQ-X2D1 is a DC 2-wire normally open proximity detection switch with a 2 mm sensing range. That 2 mm detection window is tight — it catches small metal targets at close proximity, typical for position verification on a pick-and-place gripper or a cam-lobe indexer where the gap is fixed and repeatable. The DC 2-wire NO output simplifies wiring into a standard 24 VDC PLC input without needing a separate load resistor.
