The Omron E3Z-LS81 is a diffuse-mode photoelectric sensor in the E3Z family, delivering a 20–200 mm sensing range on a red-light emitter. It switches PNP, runs on 12–24 VDC, and terminates in a 2 m prewired cable. The rectangular PBT body carries an IP67 seal, so it survives washdown zones and dusty conveyor lines without an extra enclosure.
Diffuse sensing at 200 mm max means the sensor sees its own reflected light off the target — no separate reflector or receiver to align. That 20 mm minimum dead zone is the closest you can reliably detect; anything inside that range is a blind spot the output ignores. The PNP output sinks up to 100 mA, which drives most PLC digital inputs directly. Selectable Light On/Dark On mode lets you invert logic without swapping the sensor or adding a relay — useful when the control card expects a dark-to-light edge. Response time is 1 msec.
