Setup & Key Constraints
The Omron E3Z-LS86 is a square-type photoelectric sensor with a red LED light source (680 nm) operating in distance-setting mode — the sensing distance is adjustable from 20 to 200 mm via a 5-turn endless potentiometer. Output is PNP, Light-ON/Dark-ON selectable by wiring. The M8 4-pin connector matches standard quick-disconnect cables; verify your cable has the correct pin assignment. Rated IP67 enclosure and a response time of 1 ms make it suitable for washdown or dusty environments with moving targets up to moderate speeds. Power supply 12-24 VDC, max consumption 30 mA. Differential distance 10% max. of the set distance — expect repeatable detection within that band.
Mounting & Environment
The 5-turn endless adjustment requires a small screwdriver; no locknut needed. The orange operation indicator and green stability indicator give quick confirmation during setup.
