What you’re getting
The E3Z-R81: This is a retroreflective photoelectric sensor from Omron’s E3Z series – the one with the Mirror Surface Rejection (MSR) trick. It’s PNP output, runs on 12-24V DC, and comes prewired with a 2-meter cable. The 4-meter sensing distance (minimum 100 mm) handles most conveyor and machine guarding jobs, and it’ll see right through shiny trouble that eats up standard retroreflectives.
MSR – why it matters out here
That Mirror Surface Rejection feature is the real value. Standard retroreflectives get fooled by a polished shaft or a chrome guard – they see the reflection and drop out. The MSR circuit filters that false echo, so a cleanly machined part or a mirror-finish panel won’t kill your signal. Out here in the grease, that’s the difference between a steady run and a phantom alarm every time the lube cart passes. The body is PBT, sealed to IP67 – washdown-rated, dust-tight. The prewired cable exits the right-angle face, which keeps the connector out of the splash zone when mounted low on a machine frame.
