The Omron E3Z-T86-L is a through-beam photoelectric sensor from the E3Z family, delivering a 15 m sensing gap using an 870 nm infrared LED. Output is PNP, selectable Light-ON or Dark-ON, with a 1 ms response time. The M8 4-pin connector version means field wiring is a quick plug-in — no cable gland or stripping needed on the sensor side.
Cable vs connector — same optics, different wiring
The E3Z-T86-L shares its sensing core (same 15 m range, IR LED, 1 ms response, PNP output) with the E3Z-T81K 2M. The difference is the termination: the -T86-L uses an M8 4-pin connector while the -T81K 2M comes with a 2 m prewired cable. If your panel already has M8 pigtails or you need to swap sensors without pulling new cable, the -T86-L fits. For a fixed install where a hardwired cable is preferred, the E3Z-T81K 2M avoids an extra mating connector.
Mounting and wiring notes
The sensor body is rectangular PBT, IP67-rated, rated for -25 to 55 °C ambient. The M8 connector accepts a standard 4-pin female cordset.
