The Omron E3ZM-T81 2M is a through-beam photoelectric sensor set from the E3ZM series, delivering a 15 m sensing distance with a PNP output and a stainless steel housing rated IP67/IP69K. The set includes both transmitter and receiver, prewired with a 2 m bare-end cable, and operates on 10-30V DC with a 100 mA maximum load. The PNP output is selectable Light-On/Dark-On, with a 1 ms response time, and the sensor detects objects as small as 12 mm diameter opaque.
PNP vs NPN — Choosing Between E3ZM-T81 and E3ZM-T61
The E3ZM-T81 2M (PNP) and E3ZM-T61 2M (NPN) are identical in every other spec: 15 m sensing range, IP69K stainless steel body, 2 m cable, IR emitter. The only difference is output circuit — PNP vs NPN. For a sourcing decision, that means the T81 is the PNP variant; if your PLC input card expects sourcing outputs, this is the unit. The T61 sinks to common. No rewiring between the two — same pinout — but the output logic changes (active high vs low).
