Device profile
The Omron E3ZT86DOMI is a member of the E3Z photoelectric family and presents as a through-beam pair using an infrared LED emitter, which is the configuration that lands on the BOM when the target is opaque and the beam needs to clear a long cross-line without depending on a retroreflector. Sensing distance tops out at 15 m, so it suits conveyor-bay width, pallet-stack inspection, and door-area guarding where a reflex unit would lose margin in shiny environments. The datasheet description line places it as Photoelectric Sensor PNP 15 m 1 ms 24 V 100 mA LED, Infrared, Connector M8 4-Pin, IP67 — the headline numbers a panel-builder specifies to.
Electrical envelope and output
The supply rail runs from 12 V to 24 V, with 100 mA available load current at the PNP output and a stated response time of 1 ms — fast enough for indexing conveyors and small parts counting without chasing tails. The output is PNP (sourcing) and the unit ships on a 4-pin M8 connector, which is the standard drop for a one-cable sensor on a remote I/O block. Light-ON / Dark-ON is selectable, so the same part covers a beam-made signal at the PLC input on either polarity of logic.
Mechanical and environment envelope
The housing footprint is 10.8 mm wide by 20 mm tall by 31 mm long, which is the E3Z compact body and shares the same mounting centres and bracket family as the rest of the series. IP67 seals the front face for washdown cells and outdoor cabinets, and the operating window stretches from -40 °C to 55 °C — cold-room stores, freezer lines, and unconditioned outdoor panels all fit inside one envelope. Termination is the pre-wired M8 pigtail variant, so cordset selection is on the panel BOM, not on the sensor.
