The Omron E3ZT86OMI is a through-beam photoelectric sensor from the E3Z series, with a 15 m sensing distance and a PNP output. It switches light-ON or dark-ON, responding in 1 ms—fast enough for conveyor gap detection or fast-moving parts. The M8 connector keeps the cable run outside the panel; check that the mating connector shell bonds the shield for clean signal return.
Connector vs. cable – the real difference
The E3ZT815MOMS (cable, 5 m, IP69K) shares the same optics, 15 m range, PNP output and 100 mA load. The connectorized version swaps the highest-pressure-washdown rating for quick-disconnect convenience. If your cabinet already has M8 pigtails run, swapping from the cable variant means only re-terminating the loose conductors into the connector—no rewiring at the sensor head. For new builds, the connector saves downtime on future replacements.
Panel fit and mounting
At 10.8 mm wide, 31 mm tall and 20 mm deep, the E3ZT86OMI slides into standard E3Z mounting brackets. The M8 connector adds about 15 mm to the overall depth; confirm clearance if the sensor mounts flush against a panel wall. Operating temperature -25 to 55 °C covers most indoor environments.
