The EE-SX3070 is an Omron EE-SX series transmissive photomicrosensor — emitter and detector face each other across a built-in 8 mm slot, so the part itself is the fork and the target only has to break the beam. A 3 µs response time at the listed 8 mm gap means the device catches fast-moving parts — label edges, lead-frame tips, tape-and-reel index holes — without the output pulse collapsing below the downstream counter's input filter. The output is NPN dark-ON at up to 50 mA load current, switching on 16 V max supply — small enough to sit on a 5 V logic rail with a pull-up, but rated only to 16 V so a 24 V control supply will damage the device.

The body is 17.7 mm long × 6 mm wide × 10 mm tall with PCB-pin termination, so it through-hole mounts to the board rather than flying on a lead — give the emitter/detector window a clear 8 mm throat with no obstruction above the slot. Operating temperature is rated -40 °C to 75 °C — wider than typical office-electronics sensors and tight against the upper limit, so an unenclosed cabinet above an enclosure heater needs a thermal margin check.
