The EE-SX473: Output short-circuit protection is built in, so a wiring fault won't take out the sensor itself. The infrared LED is invisible to the eye but works reliably across the short gap. Switching frequency hits 3 kHz, which handles fast-moving parts on a conveyor or rotary indexer.
Mounting and wiring considerations
The sensor uses solder terminals, so you'll need a mating connector or wire directly to the pins. That means no quick-disconnect — plan for a junction box or terminal block within reach. The close-mounting body style allows the sensor to be bolted directly against a bracket; overall dimensions are 28mm deep, 13mm wide, 13mm tall. IP50 means it's protected against dust ingress but not moisture or washdown; keep it inside a dry cabinet or panel. Operating temperature ranges -13°F to 131°F.
