What It Is and Where It Fits
Omron's EE-SX670R is a compact through-beam photoelectric sensor from the SX67 series, packing transmitter and receiver into one U-slot body. It's built for tight spots where you need to detect a small opaque object — down to 2 mm x 0.8 mm — at a fixed 5 mm gap. The PNP output switches at 3 kHz, making it fast enough for counting or registration applications on small assembly or packaging stations.
Key Ratings — What They Mean for Fit
The 5-24V DC supply range covers common control voltages without needing a separate regulator, but it's DC-only — don't feed it AC. The 50 mA load current maximum is typical for driving a PLC input or small relay directly; don't plan on powering a contactor coil from it. IP50 means it's protected against dust ingress but not against splashing water or hose-down, so keep it inside a control cabinet or dry location. The solder-terminal connection requires wiring in the panel — no prewired cable, so plan for a terminal block nearby.
Mounting and Wiring Notes
The 6 mm wide U-slot body with straight sensor face slides into a bracket or mounts directly with the included hardware. Solder terminals accept 0.2–2.5 mm² wire; strip about 8 mm. The selectable light-on/dark-on mode is set via a switch on the body — no programming tool needed. The indicator light gives a quick go/no-go on alignment and target presence.
