The Omron EE-SX672R is a through-beam photoelectric sensor from the EE-SX67 series, delivering a 5 mm sensing distance with a 3 kHz switching frequency — fast enough for small-part detection on a pick-and-place or conveyor gate. The PNP output is rated for 50 mA max load, and the supply range spans 5-24V DC, so it runs on common 24V control loops or 5V logic rails without a separate regulator. Minimum detectable object is 2 mm x 0.8 mm opaque, which means it catches narrow targets like a component lead or a label edge. The sensor switches in 0.17 msec — under 200 µs — so it keeps up with high-speed indexing without missing a pulse.
Fit and mounting
The T-slot body style (19 mm wide, 28 mm deep, 26 mm tall) fits into standard actuator slots or custom brackets. Solder terminals mean you wire it directly — no connector to source, but plan for strain relief if the cable moves. IP50 keeps dust out of a clean panel or light industrial area, but it is not rated for washdown or outdoor exposure. Selectable Light On/Dark On mode gives flexibility: use Dark On to detect the presence of an opaque object breaking the beam, or Light On to confirm the beam is clear. The indicator light helps during setup — you see the switching state without a scope.
