The Omron EE-SX673A is a through-beam photoelectric sensor from the SX67 series, designed for close-mounting applications where a compact, fixed-gap detection zone is needed. Its 5 mm sensing distance and minimum object resolution of 2 mm x 0.8 mm for opaque targets make it suited for detecting small parts, labels, or flags in pick-and-place stations, packaging machinery, or assembly fixtures. Output is NPN, selectable for Light On or Dark On operation, with a 100 mA maximum load current and a fast 0.17 msec response time. The 3 kHz switching frequency supports high-speed counting or registration-mark detection without missing pulses. Supply voltage spans 5-24V DC, covering both 5V logic rails and 24V industrial buses. The sensor includes an output short-circuit protection feature and an indicator light for alignment and status feedback.
Sourcing and Lifecycle
Approvals include CE and RU (EAC), covering European and Eurasian Customs Union regulatory requirements. The IP50 rating means the sensor body is protected against dust ingress but not against water jets — suitable for indoor, dry environments, not washdown zones.
Integration Notes
The sensor body measures 13 mm x 13 mm x 28 mm (width x height x depth) in a PBT housing, with solder-terminal electrical connections. The close-mounting style means the emitter and receiver are housed in a single unit with a fixed gap — no separate alignment of emitter and receiver is needed, simplifying installation in tight spaces. Operating temperature range is -13 °F to 131 °F. The infrared emitted light is invisible; use the indicator LED to confirm beam break during setup.
