The Omron EE-SX674R is a close-mount through-beam sensor from the SX67 series, with a 5 mm sensing distance and a 0.17 ms response time—fast enough for counting or position detection on small moving parts. Its PNP output is selectable for light-on or dark-on, and the 3 kHz switching frequency handles high-speed lines. Supply range of 5–24 V DC works with common PLC inputs without an extra regulator. The sensor body is PBT with an IP50 rating, so it stays clean in a dry cabinet but won't survive washdown or condensation. It carries output short-circuit protection—useful if a wire gets pinched during installation. The minimum detectable object is 2 mm x 0.8 mm opaque, meaning it will see small targets like a component lead or label edge.
For a new design that needs short-range, fast detection of small parts, this sensor fits. It won't work in a panel wired for the E3Z's 2 m cable unless you adapt to solder terminals.
