U-slot through-beam for tight spaces
The Omron EE-SX770A is a U-slot through-beam photoelectric sensor with a 5 mm sensing distance, designed for detecting small opaque objects down to 2 mm x 0.8 mm in confined spaces. Its compact PBT body measures 18 mm wide by 31 mm tall by just 4 mm deep, fitting into tight machine frames or pick-and-place stations where a standard M18 barrel sensor won't go. The through-beam method gives reliable detection of small parts — the emitter and receiver are built into the same U-shaped housing, so alignment is fixed at the factory and no separate reflector or receiver is needed. The 0.17 ms response time and 3 kHz switching frequency handle fast-moving parts on a vibratory feeder or conveyor belt without missing edges.
NPN dark-on output and wiring
Output is NPN (sinking) with a dark-on switching mode — the transistor turns on when the light beam is blocked. Maximum load current is 100 mA, suitable for driving a PLC input or a small relay directly. Supply voltage range is 5-24V DC, covering both 5V logic and 24V industrial control systems without a separate regulator. The sensor comes with a 2 m prewired cable terminated in bare wires, so you land it directly in a terminal block or connector of your choice. The cable is fixed — no quick-disconnect option — so plan the cable route before mounting. An integral indicator light shows output state for setup and troubleshooting.
IP64 and temperature range
Rated IP64, the EE-SX770A is protected against dust ingress and splashing water. Operating temperature range is -13 °F to 131 °F.
