U-slot sensor with fast edge detection
The Omron EE-SX870P is a U-slot (fork) through-beam photoelectric sensor from the SX87 series. It has a 5 mm detection gap and is designed to detect small opaque objects down to 2 mm × 0.8 mm passing through the slot. PNP output, 5–24 VDC supply, and a fast 0.17 ms response time with 3 kHz switching frequency make it suitable for high-speed counting, edge sensing, or part-present verification in compact spaces. IP64 rating with a PBT body and a 2 m prewired bare-wire cable.
Mounting and wiring
The sensor body is 18 mm wide × 31 mm tall with a slot depth of only 4 mm. The straight face orientation means the cable exits along the slot axis. Mounting requires clearance for the U-slot; typical use is on a bracket around a conveyor edge or feed track. The cable is 2 m, bare ends, so termination is via a terminal block or connector inside the panel. Indicator lights are included for alignment and output state confirmation. The switching mode is fixed to Light-On only.
